A sustainable food supply for The Farm
The farm was established in 2009 on 32 hectares (79 acres) of land south of Ndola, with the goal of creating a more sustainable food source for the mission. Various crops are grown including: maize, vegetables, ground nuts, bananas, and more. Poultry and livestock are raised, and fish ponds are operated. An on-site hammer mill is used for grinding farm-grown maize into flour, as well as that grown by local farmers. Soya grown by the community is ground into protein powder.
Three children's homes are also located on the farm. There is power and water on the property. The land has provided us with a great opportunity to help more children and also for Mercy Touch to work towards becoming more self-sustaining.
